Meet Lenna Young Andrews —
a mixed media artist who works with paper, paint, ink, fabric, found objects, rubber stamps, images, photos and more. An advocate of engaging in creative activities for your health, well-being… and pleasure!
A few ideas to bring more creativity into your life: Learn about art journaling. Try your hand at collage. Explore painting, doodling or drawing. Take photos of things you find interesting or beautiful. Look at cooking, gardening or writing as creative adventures. Ask yourself: “What if I did this?” and be open to the possibilities!
“It is clear that creativity can be both born and made. While some people may have a natural ability or inclination towards creative thinking, others may need to develop their skills over time with practice and dedication. Ultimately, creativity is a skill that can be learned and honed regardless of age or background.”
About Lenna
I’ve been keen on creating since I was a child. My family always supported my drawing, painting, sewing, beading, poetry, and taking modern dance classes. My dad was especially supportive. He was creative himself, with exceptional woodworking skills. Dad shared his knowledge and skills with my husband Steve when we moved to Florida. They set up a wood shop together; refinished some of dad’s handmade boats, created bookshelves and wooden spoons. Creativity does run in my family; The American Impressionist, William Glackens (1870-1938) is my Great Uncle. My curated page about him is here on this site.
Expressing myself artistically is how I live my life. I’ve taught mixed media classes, hosted Art Swaps, participated in collaborations with other artists and I challenge myself with daily/weekly projects. I like taking workshops by other artists; learning new things and being inspired. I love sharing my own art & helping others to explore creativity. Early in my mixed media art career, I was published in a number of books and magazines —learn more here.
Lenna lives on the SW coast of Florida with her husband Steven Deming, who is also an artist. They were both born & raised in Connecticut where they met in 1972 as teenagers. When a mutual friend reconnected them in 2004, a fateful phone call rekindled their friendship. A whirlwind courtship ensued! It was followed by their wedding in 2005…

We adopted Daisy on August 29, 2021. She was 5 years old & rescued from a puppy mill in Alabama. Sadly, she passed on April 19, 2024 after developing a cancerous tumor. Daisy lived a happy life with us, lots of dog walks & playtime. We are so glad she found her way into our hearts and filled our lives with joy. We miss our sweet girl and cherish the time we spent with her. xo
