Brown & Pink Colour Groupies ATCs
This is my first 'scheduled post' and also my 200th post since I started blogging in December of 2006. I am leaving for vacation tomorrow (07/27/08) and we will be gone for 2 whole weeks. Steven and I have elected to go without computers this time and even though I am sure I will miss this mode of communicating, I am very glad for the break and look forward to a relaxing and quiet time on Wolfe Island (Ontario, Canada) filled with lots of art. But I thought it might be nice to set up and send a message while I was away!
Colour Groupies is a small group of 5 artists that share ATCs designed around a colour combination theme, every month.
To see all of the ATCs I have made for this challenge, just click on the Colour Groupies tag at the end of this post. For the month of July, our colour combination was brown and pink. Let me show you what I have created for this theme . . . .
This scan shows my brown & pink ATCs for Frieda, Debby & Caryl (top row, L-R) plus one I made for myself on the bottom left, and one I created for Tristan, on the bottom right. I started with a piece of luxurious brown velvet that I had leftover from velvet embossing. I looked around my studio and gathered brown velvet leaves from Alpha Stamps, the pink German Dresden foil doily I got from Paper Whimsy, pink Ribbon from Alpha Stamps, plus various coins and crushed mica. I used pink thread on my sewing machine to stitch the velvet to a piece of hand made brown paper, and I made a label on sticker paper.
I really love this exchange! Because of the high caliber of work that is produced, I am always working hard to do my best and come up with something even a little more creative! I am getting into both decorating and creating the envelopes that I send my ATCs in to this group, because I know it will be enjoyed and appreciated! This month they were all made out of pink and brown paper from a template . . .
