Birds we’ve seen in Florida, mainly on the Braden River

The Great Blue Heron

A look at the Anhinga, a bird who can swim underwater.

We celebrated our Anniversary at Whitney Beach on Longboat Key and watched a beautiful Snowy Egret fishing.

Sandhill Cranes are such large magnificent birds. Today I saw them walking down the street. A neighborhood dog started to follow them and they scurried away while making their distinctive call. Then they flew away!

We saw so many crows while out on the river, it almost looked like a murmuration of starlings.

On the Braden River: A roseate spoonbill, tri-colored heron, immature yellow crowned heron, immature (white) little blue heron

Two beautiful peacocks I came upon, in a wooded area of Sarasota, FL.
